We ask all participants to make their own arrangements for travel to Tilburg. Moreover, we also ask participants (except for the invited speakers) to book their own hotel accommodation.
We advise to make reservations well ahead of time as the hotels have limited capacity.

Travel information

Tilburg University is located in the southern part of the Netherlands. A map of Tilburg University is available here. The workshop will be held in Room CZ 112 in the C-building (see map). There is also an entrance to the C building via the K-building via the glass corridor. The university may be reached via bus number 4, that runs from the central station to the campus. Disembark at the bus stop “Universiteit”. Bus tickets may be bought from the bus driver or at a Kiosk at the Central Station. The bus tickets are called “strippenkaarten” in Dutch. Travelling by air

The two biggest airports closest to Tilburg are:

  • Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam (126 kilometers from Tilburg). When flying into Schiphol Airport you can reach Tilburg University by train (1 hour, 30 (or 35) minutes), by car (2 hours driving) or by air (KLM Cityhopper). The train station and rental car pick-ups are in the airport terminal. KLM Cityhopper flights to Eindhoven Airport (30 minutes by car from Tilburg University) connect 5 to 6 times a day.

  • Brussels Airport in Brussels, Belgium (125 kilometers from Tilburg). At Brussels Airport, you can take a train to Tilburg (appr. 2 hour and 30 minutes to reach Tilburg, inclusive 2 transfers: at Brussels North and at Roosendaal).


There are also two small airports close to Tilburg. Because of their size, however, they are not suitable for all airplanes, so there are fewer connections.

  • Eindhoven Airport (37 kilometers from Tilburg). Trains do not stop at this airport, so you need to go to the train station in Eindhoven by bus (no. 401) or taxi (appr. 30 euro) to take a train to Tilburg there. The train from Eindhoven to Tilburg takes approximately 25 minutes.
  • Rotterdam Airport (76 kilometers from Tilburg). From Rotterdam Airport, you can take a bus (no. 33) to Rotterdam Central Station (transit time about 30 minutes) or a taxi (appr. 25 euro). The train to Tilburg Central Station takes about 50 minutes.

Other information

Bicycle rental

If you would like to rent a bicycle during your stay here in Tilburg, you can do so at the central railway station in Tilburg (Fietspoint Derks).

  • daily rate: 7.50 euro
  • weekly rate: 37.50 euro

You can only rent on presentation of an identity card or passport. You have to pay a deposit of 50 euro. We advise you to contact the bicycle leasing office in advance. Their telephone number is +31 - 13 - 543 61 94 from abroad or 543 61 94 from Tilburg.
Beware! Bicycles are often stolen in the Netherlands. Always lock your bicycle when you leave it, be it attended or unattended. We strongly recommend you to use the bicycle sheds at the hotel. Always use the guarded bicycle sheds in the city centre. Free guarded bicycle sheds are located at:

  • Heuvel square (longest opening hours: till 02.30 hrs on Sunday - Wednesday, till 04.30 hrs on Thursday - Saturday)

  • Katterug

The bicycle shed at the Central Railway Station charges 1.10 euro.
